Red Flag Origin

DefinitionHigh cumulative ultraviolet radiation exposure — including chronic occupational/recreational sun exposure (outdoor work, equatorial residence, water/snow sports), indoor tanning-bed use (IARC Group 1 carcinogen since 2009), AND personal history of severe sunburns (especially blistering sunburns in childhood/adolescence; ≥5 lifetime sunburns doubles melanoma risk). UV is the principal modifiable etiologic driver of cutaneous melanoma + basal cell carcinoma (BCC) + squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the skin. Tanning-bed use before age 35 increases melanoma risk by ~75%. Fair skin (Fitzpatrick I-II), red/ blond hair, blue eyes, freckles compound risk. Prevention-persona RedFlag (§20 v0.3 lifestyle pilot).

Notes

Prevention-persona RedFlag for high cumulative UV exposure. IARC Group 1 classification for tanning beds (2009). NCCN Melanoma + AAD guidelines support UV-protection counseling + skin self-exam + clinical skin exam cadence. Engine routes to PreventionPlan recommending sun-protection + skin surveillance. STUB pending two-Clinical-Co-Lead signoff per CHARTER §6.1 dev-mode.
