Red Flag Origin
| Definition | Habitual high consumption of UNPROCESSED red meat (beef, pork, lamb, veal, goat) — ≥500 g/week (≥3 servings/day) of cooked weight — in an individual without a current colorectal-cancer diagnosis. IARC Monograph 114 (2015) classified red meat as Group 2A (probably carcinogenic to humans) — limited evidence in humans (positive associations across multiple cohorts, residual confounding by cooking method and processed-meat co-consumption not fully excluded), sufficient evidence in experimental animals (rodent ACF / tumor models with high red-meat diet). WCRF/AICR 2018 third-expert-report concurs: "probable" evidence for unprocessed red meat → CRC. Effect size: +~17% CRC risk per 100 g/day (RR ~1.17, pooled meta-analyses). Mechanisms partially overlap with processed meat (heterocyclic amines, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from high-temperature cooking; heme iron → reactive oxygen species... |

Notes
Prevention-persona RedFlag — v0.3 IARC 2A probable-carcinogen batch (2026-05-19). IARC Group 2A probable — limited human evidence; clinical recommendation more conservative than Group 1. IARC Monograph 114 (2015) is the canonical evidence anchor and is NOT yet a separate SRC entity in KB; cited in notes only. Coexistence with RF-LIFESTYLE-HIGH-RED-MEAT-CRC-PREVENTION (predecessor combined-threshold RF that covers BOTH ≥500g/week unprocessed red meat AND ≥50g/day processed meat at severity:major because processed-meat exposure carries the Group-1 driver) is deliberate. This new RF is the 2A-pure narrowing — fires when only the unprocessed-red-meat threshold is met; lets the engine surface a conservative-track PreventionPlan framed on the 2A evidence quality without inheriting the Group-1 severity. Both RFs may fire on the same patient when both thresholds are met; engine treats them as additive with the predecessor's major severity taking precedence on conflict resolution. STUB pending two-Clinical-Co-Lead signoff per CHARTER §6.1 dev-mode exemption.
