Notes
Four epidemiologic forms (classic / endemic / iatrogenic / AIDS-related) share HHV-8 as obligate etiology. Treatment: immune restoration first (ART for AIDS-KS; immunosuppression rebalance for iatrogenic — mTOR- inhibitor conversion has direct anti-Kaposi activity); systemic chemotherapy (liposomal doxorubicin / paclitaxel) for symptomatic / visceral disease. KSHV-driven multicentric Castleman disease (MCD) and primary effusion lymphoma (PEL) are related but distinct entities.
