Notes
First-line nucleoside analog for chronic HBV suppression. Achieves HBV-DNA undetectability in >95% of treatment-naive patients over 12 months. Long-term suppression reduces HCC incidence by ~50% (HR 0.5, AASLD 2024). Combined with q6mo HCC surveillance (US + AFP) for full cancer-prevention benefit. Discontinuation requires hepatologist consultation due to severe hepatic flare risk.
