Capabilities

Notes

Distinct from other head/neck SCCs: EBV-associated, lymphoepithelial histology, very chemo- and radio-sensitive, distinct anatomic challenges (skull-base proximity, retropharyngeal nodal drainage). Treatment: definitive concurrent chemoradiation for locally advanced disease (cisplatin + IMRT); induction chemo (gemcitabine + cisplatin) showing OS benefit in recent trials. Metastatic 1L: gemcitabine + cisplatin + toripalimab or camrelizumab (PD-1) per recent Chinese Phase 3s. Plasma EBV-DNA used for post-treatment surveillance — rising levels predict relapse months before imaging.
